    The world is awash with entreprenuers and we have noticed that 9 to 5 kind of jobs is not the route to financial freedom. You can do a 9 to 5 kind of job, retire honouably but i promise you your financial base is nothing compared to the that of an entrepreneur who ventured to start something something for themselves.

    Entrepreneurship is a systematic approach used to identify, bring to life and nourish to fruition of an ideal or oppournity. Entrepreneurs perceive potentials and build on them by directing his or her resources to achieve pre-determined goals. The human resource is of importance because it is in born in all. It manifest as talents and deep seated aspirations. The material resource is secondary.

    The featuers of Entrepreneurs are numerous but lefts nose dive into it. Entrepreneurs have a high level of business consciousness. They can discern between assets and liabilities. They can see business potentials when they get close to one. Their eyes and mind can see potentials even when clothed in failures. In addition, they are ready ti indulge in moderate calculated risks because they do a through base line study of their potential business ideal. These base line studies give them a clear picture if the target market, the dos and don’ts the requirements and the legal impediments.They make sound business judgement before they dive into any business venture.

    Entrepreneurs are dynamic and hard working. They do not dive into business because it is in vogue or it has made their next door friend millionaires. They nourish their idea with creative innovations thus making it unique. They have superb abilities in allocating time, resources and task.

    Before a doctor diagnoses a specific disease, his patient must undergo a series of laboratory exams and assessments. He has to know the history of his patient and how lifestyle affected his present health problem. As results come in, that would be an indication of the time when a physician gives specific drugs and therapies for maintenance. This will eventually contribute to the level of optimum health for that individual. If all else fails, the process will be repeated again.

    Similar to a doctor, what the above mentioned situation has stated, an entrepreneur’s responsibility would be pretty much the same. It’s just that, he should see his customers as his patients (not literally)and what they must have to survive a present predicament or a need. He must follow certain steps before doing anything irrational that could contribute to the downfall of his business. He should have certain characteristics innate in his personality for if he lacks one of these, he’s most probably doomed to fail.

    Entrepreneurship is collectively defined as exhibiting one’s vision, taking action, and pursuing that vision as a goal to be achieved in life as service to reality. In the meaningless definition, it’s getting your butt out of that couch and doing something rather than fulfilling your life’s destiny of being a couch potato.     Risk-taker – as someone beginning their own dream, one should be stern and must have the guts to take the big leap of plunging into their own doom or success. One should not be afraid of taking chances when opportunity strikes.

    Energetic – willing to do whatever it takes to reach to the finish line. The inner drive must always be at its highest level happy to work overtime. His or her enthusiasm must prevail the next best thing.

    Time bound – like a written report in a newspaper, an entrepreneur must be on top of things,by looking at our past, we could predict our future.

    Small businesses, in time, would turn out big if the scope of management exceeds what is expected. So it is necessary for a beginner to be positive about his endeavors. He must be very observant of what his environment lacks and needs.

    When we talk of management education, we are basically referring to shaping up the students, aimed towards developing their competency and capability either as a manager fit to join an organization and help it to grow or as entrepreneur, to establish and grow ones own business.     Benchmarking with the top management colleges inspires an institute to produce quality managers. Management education needs to include knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA) that are needed today and that will be needed tomorrow by the industry. The mission of management education should be to become innovative and creative. The objectives of benchmarking should be to:-
    Make own students employable in industry.
    Moving the institute from academic mode to corporate mode. To achieve these objectives the agenda should be:- (a) To identify the industry expectations of the skill sets required of students. (b)To identify the areas of Total Quality Management (TQM) in management education. (c) To identify the changes required in teachers imparting management education.

    There are many reasons for the wide differences in the quality of management education in different institutes in India. The main reason is the absence of a body that can ensure that the standards set are practiced and retained by all management institutes, like AACSB in USA. We do have an apex body the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), that is responsible for setting the basic framework, guidelines and standards for quality of business education, there are however many problems when it comes implementation of these standard by MBA colleges and institutes and these problems undermine the effectiveness of these standards. In order install quality in management education in India, the AICTE and MBA colleges / universities in the country should focus on the following issues:-
    Quality of faculty.
    Infrastructure development.
    Accountability of management institutes.
    Values and ethics.
    Role of professional bodies (AIMA, ISTD, etc).

    Kimco Realty Corp. (Kimco) announced the launch of another small business through the Kimco Entrepreneurs Year Start (KEYS) program – Carlsbad’s Build-It-Workshops held its grand opening on Friday.

    KEYS is a small business incubator program developed by Kimko.

    As of Dec. 31, 2012, Kimco owned interests in 896 shopping centers comprising 131 million square feet of leasable space across 44 states, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico, and South America. KEYS launched in California, where Kimco owns over 110 shopping centers consisting of over 3,200 stores and 19.3 million square feet of leasable space.

    The company says that it is actively seeking startup entrepreneurs and first-time business owners to apply to the program, which currently has over a hundred small shops (2,500 square feet and under) available for KEYS participants, including many pre-built restaurant spaces.

    KEYS will place qualified applicants into Kimco shopping centers with one year of free rent and additional benefits such as affordable property charges to minimize initial overhead; access to personal Kimco retail business counselors; a flexible four-year lease option after the first year; as well as access to shop space in established retail centers. In addition, Kimco says that it will provide operational and financial support through the critical startup incubation years to better ensure the success of these first-time business owners.

    Kimco has developed relationships with established educational organizations such as SCORE, the California Small Business Development Center, Kauffman FastTrac, and others that offer business resources and networking support.

    The KEYS program seeks entrepreneurs who plan to open their first store, restaurant, or other concept (but not franchise companies), who have adequate funding for the venture, a written Business Plan with detailed business goals and who have the ability to articulate their plan for success in an interview. A certificate, endorsement, or letter of completion verifying entrepreneurial classes completed from an SBA sponsored business association, college, university or appropriate training organization is encouraged, but not required.

    One of my favourite assignments as a copywriter is to help entrepreneurs create the text to promote their new business, product or service. In my five years as a professional copywriter, I’ve helped clients as diverse as electricians, sales trainers, marketing companies, gourmet food shops, property developers, digital agencies, IT consultants and driving instructors to express what they offer in writing – usually at the early stage of building or planning the enterprise. The power of copywriting in that situation simply cannot be overestimated. There really is something almost magical about putting words on the page. It makes ideas real, generates commitment and focuses energy. Just by committing thoughts to paper, we can shape our futures. It’s easy to see how this benefits the entrepreneur as they plan or develop a business. Although most entrepreneurs generally feel positive and confident about their ideas, they sometimes find it hard to do them full justice on the page. Working from a different perspective – the outsider’s perspective – the copywriter can make sure that their client’s marketing pitches the offering to the right audience, with the right tone and the right emphasis.Sometimes, the appropriate ‘level’ for the message may be far ‘above’ the one expected or imagined by the entrepreneur. Sometimes, when they see what I’ve written, my clients respond ‘I could never have written that,’ or ‘I don’t recognise myself’. This type of feedback confirms that the entrepreneur may simply be too close to his or her product or business (whether emotionally or intellectually) to communicate its selling points effectively. If the business is a one-person startup enterprise, it’s easy to see why. Talking an idea through with a good copywriter (one who asks the client lots of questions) is a great way to road-test a new idea. ‘If we translated this concept into marketing messages,’ the entrepreneur is asking, ‘Would it fly? Would the proposition be consistent, compelling and capable of converting interest into sales?’ Here, the discipline of copywriting can act as a useful reality check. The dark side of confidence is over-confidence, and entrepreneurs are prone to many delusions and self-deceptions. But the copywriter cannot spin straw into gold; to make convincing copy, they can’t work with unclear, inconsistent or self-contradictory ideas. As part of the briefing process, the copywriter can help the entrepreneur to iron out all these tangles in their thinking – provided the copywriter is prepared to put some tough questions to the person who pays their bill.
